I know how difficult it is to lose weight after 40 especially BELLY FAT!!! It can be discouraging especially when you’re almost there and you have that little annoying pooch that won’t seem to disappear. You want to give up and throw in the towel and allow yourself to say “I’m over 40 and this is what’s supposed to happen to my body”. Or “I’m just too busy with work, getting my degree, family commitments and just plain old tired so I really don’t have time to devote to this fitness thing”. Trust me it happens to the best of us including me and working out is a part of my day. DO NOT let that little voice in your head tell you that you cannot do this. DO NOT let that little voice in your head tell you this is for those other ladies over 40. DO NOT let that little voice in your head tell you you’re too tired to workout.
Yes, the road does get a little tough and yes, sometimes life gets in the way but if losing weight after 40 and getting rid of that belly fat was easy then we’d all have a super mom six packs. So when the road gets a little tough and you think losing weight and getting fit after 40 is only for superstars in Hollywood with their personal chefs and trainers, here are a few things I want you to do to get yourself and your mindset back on track. Forget about yesterday or this morning. It’s in the past and you can’t change the past but you can control the future and your success. Look at where you might be falling short. Is it diet, fitness, or motivation?
Is it Your Diet?
Losing weight after 40 is difficult if you’re not eating a clean diet. If it’s diet that you’re having trouble with then start a food journal. For three days, write down everything you eat and after three days review your journal. Are you eating enough food each day? If you’re working out and not eating enough calories you will not lose weight. Are drinking enough water? Are you eating too late in the evening? Are you eating too many “bad” or simple carbs? Are you getting enough “good” or complex carbs from fruits and vegetables? If you find diet is a major factor in your inability to lose weight and you need help then I recommend reading The Eat Clean Diet book by Tosca Reno.
