Why I Love P90X Leg and Back Workout!

I just completed P90X Leg and Back routine.  The workout alternates between leg and back exercises.  I love working out my legs. What I really like about this workout is that most of the lower body exercises do not require weights but you still get a really good lower body workout.  This workout is that its not boring and you’re not just doing squats and lunges.  You’re doing a variation of both and each exercise is challenging.   Tony Horton, the creator of P90X, has designed an excellent lower body workout that will challenge your muscles with each exercise.   My legs feel like jelly trying to go up and down the stairs after you’ve completed this workout!

The back workout consist of several variations of pull ups and chin ups. Tony Horton designed this workout so that you can use the pullup bar or bands and also has someone demonstrating both versions.  I like using the Bodylastic Bands. Bodylastic Bands are more durable than other bands that I’ve purchased in the past. I also have the Iron Gym pull up bar because it allows you to complete all the different variations of pull ups in the P90X workout. I’ll be honest I haven’t worked up my nerve to try the pull up bar. I thought I would save that for week 3 workout. So next week I’ll get over my fear and start using the pull up bar. I have zero upper body strength so this will be a challenge.

The ab workout is very difficult. I haven’t been able to complete all of the reps of each exercise.  There are 11 different abdominal exercises with 25 reps each. I have to remind myself that I’m still at the beginning and I’ll improve over time. I always feel defeated by Ab Ripper X but I can definitely say that I do see the six pack forming so I just work harder the next time. If you want a well, defined core then try doing Ab Ripper X. You’ll definitely get there. But you have to remember diet is key to achieving the definition in your core.

Everyone always make New Year Resolutions to get in shape, lose weight and to live a healthier lifestyle. Don’t wait until January 1st start now. You don’t have to wait until the beginning of a new year to make goals. You can set goals anytime.  I’m eager to get rid of the weight I gained while pregnant. I didn’t have a lot to lose and I did give up along the way because I kept hitting plateaus. I realize that you have to change it up to really see results. The P90X workout has three phases. It doesn’t allow your body to get use to the workouts. Each phase lasts four weeks. It’s based on the premise of “muscle confusion”. This concept allows you to see quick results by changing up the routine. If you really want to see results and get the body you’ve always wanted without the expense of a personal trainer and going to the gym then P90X is your best option.
